CONSTITUTIONAL FLAWS

Is the Constitution flawed?  I don't believe so, but have you ever noticed there is no penalty within its text for not following it?

For instance, at the time of this writing, the President (executive branch) seems to be doing whatever he wants regardless of any balance of powers enumerated in the Constitution or Bill of Rights.

The Judicial Branch of our government is supposed to be a watchdog over the Constitution and control the power of the other branches of government.  The Justices however do not seem to be fulfilling this role very well as they give every appearance of legislating from the bench!

And lastly, what about the Legislative Branch.  Simply, they make laws and control the purse strings.  However they have abdicated these responsibilities in two major ways.  As an example, Congress allowed the President to chose which parts of Obamacare will be followed and which can be put on hold or ignored.  This was a legally passed law, that was then illegally gutted!  And secondly, Congress gave the President an open checkbook for the remainder of his term.

So how did we get in this dilemma where we seem to be ignoring our base, or founding laws?

In a 1798 letter to the Officers of the First Brigade of the Third Division of the militia of Massachusetts John Adams penned these words:

Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people.  It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."

This comment from our first Vice-President, and second President is, in my opinion, a strong indication of why we are in trouble as a nation.
